Abstract

The problem of the research lies in the following main question: What are the implications of adopting social networking sites as a source of news in Iraqi news agencies (information, Baghdad Today, conscious), and the research is classified as descriptive research, and the survey method is adopted in the field. The employees in news Editing, who are in the capacity of: (Editorial Director, Editorial Secretary, editor, reporter, delegate, designer or editor) in the three agencies, were identified as researchers, as their number reached (48) according to the comprehensive inventory method for the period (20/4/20/5/2023). The research tools were represented by the questionnaire form, and the research reached the following conclusion: the adoption of social networking sites as sources of news has positive repercussions on the journalistic work environment, outweigh the negative repercussions, the most prominent positive repercussions are that these sites have added new sources of news, while the most prominent negative repercussions is their contribution to the dissemination of fake news and sorting out unreliable sources. .
